Custom Landscaping project in Walled Lake, Michigan by Michigan Outdoor Creations
What we build

Custom Landscaping

Design-build landscaping that ties the whole yard together — grading, drainage, planting beds, mulch and stone, planned as one outdoor space instead of a pile of separate jobs.

The work

Most yards end up as a collection of disconnected projects — a patio here, a wall there, a flower bed that floods every spring — because they were built by different crews at different times with no plan tying them together. The result rarely drains right and rarely looks finished. Landscaping should be designed as one space.

Michigan Outdoor Creations does design-build landscaping across Walled Lake and the Lakes Area: we plan grading, drainage, planting beds, mulch and decorative stone, and the hardscape together, so water moves where it should and every element belongs to the same outdoor room. Because we also build the decks, concrete, masonry, and walls, the landscape and the hardscape are designed by one crew to one plan.

How we build it

Four steps. The same on every job.

01

Site read

We walk the whole property, map sun, soil, and how water moves, and identify the problem spots before designing anything.

02

Scope

A design that ties beds, plantings, stone, drainage, and hardscape together, with a written fixed price.

03

Build

Grade and drain first, then install beds, plantings, stone, mulch, edging, and tie in any hardscape.

04

Walkthrough

We review plant care and watering, hand over the plan, and confirm the yard drains the way it should.

The thing other contractors skip

Why it matters in Michigan.

Landscaping in Michigan starts with water and soil, not plants. A bed that sits in standing water will rot whatever you plant in it, and a yard graded toward the house feeds water to the foundation. We grade and drain first, then plant species that actually thrive in our climate and the specific light and soil of your site.

Drainage is where we start because it is what our sister company, Michigan Drainage Solutions, does every day. Designing the planting, the stone, and the water management as one plan is what separates a landscape that looks finished and stays healthy from one that floods and fades.
